Gilman/ Western Taylor County POINTS OF INTEREST *Chequamegon Waters Flowage: Surrounded by the Chequamegon National Forest, the 3,000 acre flowage boasts some of the best bass and northern pike fishing to be found anywhere. Public boat landings are conveniently situated around the flowage for easy access. The Chippewa Campground is located on the shores of the Chequamegon Waters. This extremely modern campground features warm water showers, flush toilets, a dumping station and is handicapped accessible. The marshes and wooded hills surrounding the flowage are a haven for a wide variety of waterfowl and wildlife. *Perkinstown Winter Sports Area: This long time favorite for winter recreation enthusiasts is located in the Chequamegon National Forest. A groomed system of cross country ski trails compliments the sports area hill activities. *Otter Lake: This county park is located in Chippewa County just west of the Taylor County line. The park offers picnicking, camping, swimming, a boat landing and fine fishing. Groceries, restaurant, service station and a cheese factory are located nearby in Bellinger. *Snowmobile Trails: Taylor County features 300 miles of well groomed snowmobile and ATV trails. Much of the system is located in the Chequamegon National Forest. *Ice Age Trail: Our well developed section of the Ice Age Trail traverses Taylor County through the national forest, the county forest and the glacial terrain of the Rib Lake area. *Diamond Lake County Park: Featured swimming, picnicking, bath house, toilets, shelter, boat landing and fishing. *Pershing Wildlife Area: This state owned wildlife area comprises 7,000 acres and features 9 ponds. The area is managed for Sharptail Grouse and waterfowl. *Gilman- Home of only Swinging Foot Bridge in the State: Village park, public picnicking, camping, swinging bridge. drinking water, toilets, groceries, live bait, restaurants, churches. *Jump River: Village park, public picnicking, fishing, camping, groceries, churches *Lublin: Village park, pavilion, picnic area, churches *Motorized Trail *Miller Dam Park & Recreation Area- Boat Landing: Features two concrete boat landings, open shelter, handicapped accessible restrooms, public picnicking, large parking area. *Big Rock Game Preserve *Krug Pheasant Farm |
